The black widow is in the family Theridiidae. The black widow has a hourglass like shape on its abdomen that can be red, yellow or orange. The black widow female mates with a male and afterwards she eats him. The males are smaller and are a lighter color than the females. Once the eggs are fertilized she makes an egg sack and fills it with eggs. The biggest threat to a black widow is a fly. The fly lays eggs on the protected egg sack and in 5 days they hatch and start to rip through the egg sack to eat the widow eggs. When all the widow eggs are eaten they start to molt into pupae.

This is what I learned on black widows.  I hope you learned something too.
