The sparrow is classified as a passerine or “sparrow-shaped”. There are 5,100 types of passerines.  The most common of sparrows is the house sparrow. It is light brown with darker brown markings on its head and near the breast. They eat plant seeds and small insects.  If you like watching sparrows, then put a bird feeder in your yard. Sparrows can sing 20 song with over 1000 variations. The chipping sparrow will make a rapid finger tapping sound instead of chirping. Sparrow eggs have white shells (and sometimes light blue shells) with brown speckles.

Thank you for reading my short article on sparrows. I hope you learned something about sparrows and will see some if you go bird watching.
