The falcon is a beautiful bird that is in the family Falconidae. It is a bird of prey meaning it eats other birds. There are 60 species of falcons. Unlike Hawks and Eagles the falcon uses a sharp point on its beak instead of using talons. The peregrine falcon is the fastest animal, which can air dive up to 200 mph! The falcon has two methods of hunting, the chase and the air dive. The chase is where the falcon chases its prey but the prey is more likely to escape . The air dive is very effective: the falcon takes to the air, finds where it prey is and bolts for it. It tucks it wings in to maximize speed and goes for the wings of the bird that it is attacking to minimize damage to itself. The falcon eats mice, lizards, small rabbits and chases insects on the ground.
